Compliance Manager / Fire Risk Assessor

About the role

This is the senior technical role in the company. You'll carry out fire risk assessments and compartmentation surveys yourself, check the quality of the fire door and fire stopping work we deliver, and own our accreditations and audits.

We'd especially like to hear from ex-fire and rescue service officers, fire safety enforcement officers and experienced assessors who want to shape how a growing company works rather than tick boxes.

What you'll do

• Carry out fire risk assessments (Type 1 to 4) for blocks of flats, schools, care homes, offices and industrial sites
• Carry out compartmentation surveys and write clear, photo-led reports with a priority on every action
• Review the fire door and fire stopping work our BM TRADA Q-Mark and FIRAS-certificated contractors deliver
• Own our accreditations and audits: Constructionline, SSAIB, BAFE and the schemes we're working towards; prepare the evidence and run the audit days
• Keep our method statements, RAMS and competence records current
• Advise clients and our own team on the Fire Safety Order, the Building Safety Act and BS 9999 / BS 9991

What we're looking for

• Several years assessing fire risk in real buildings: an ex-fire and rescue service, enforcement or established fire risk assessor background is ideal
• A recognised fire risk assessment qualification (NEBOSH Fire, FPA, IFE membership or a Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety) and the experience to back it
• Hands-on knowledge of compartmentation and passive fire protection: you know a bad penetration seal when you see one
• Experience of audits and schemes: BM TRADA, Constructionline, BAFE or similar
• Clear writing: your reports are read by managing agents, housing providers and sometimes the fire service
• Full UK driving licence

Good to have

• Fire door inspection competence (FDIS or equivalent)
• Experience with Building Safety Regulator submissions for higher-risk buildings
