Who can install fire and security systems in High Wycombe?

DC Fire & Security covers High Wycombe from our base in Luton. We fit and service fire doors, fire alarms, CCTV, intruder alarms and access control, and we carry out fire risk assessments and fire stopping surveys. Security work is SSAIB certificated. We do not charge travel, and we usually come back with a fixed price the same day.

What we do in High Wycombe

Seven services. Each one has its own page, so read the one you need.

Fire doors. We supply and fit FD30 and FD60 doorsets, and inspect and repair existing doors. Our High Wycombe fire door installation page covers replacements. Inspections and repairs are on the national pages for fire door inspections and fire door repairs.

Fire stopping. Sealing gaps in fire walls and floors with tested systems, fitted by our BM TRADA Q-Mark / FIRAS-certificated contractors. The High Wycombe fire stopping page looks at older commercial buildings and flats above shops.

Fire alarms. Commercial and communal systems to BS 5839-1. See fire alarm installation in High Wycombe.

Fire risk assessments. Led by Sebastian Grabowski, who holds the Level 4 Diploma in Fire Risk Assessment. The county-wide detail is on our Buckinghamshire fire risk assessment page.

CCTV, intruder alarms and access control. Covered for the whole county on CCTV, intruder alarms and access control.

Who regulates fire safety here

Two public bodies matter if you run or own a building in High Wycombe.

Local government is run by Buckinghamshire Council, a single unitary authority that has run the area since April 2020. Housing and licensing questions go to Buckinghamshire Council.

Fire safety law in non-domestic buildings is enforced by Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service. Its business safety team works across Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes and runs a risk-based inspection programme under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. The service says it targets high-risk premises and those with many false alarms or known fire safety concerns.

The duty to keep the building safe sits with the responsible person. Our guide to who the responsible person is explains how that works for landlords and managing agents.

The buildings we expect to see

High Wycombe is a town built in layers, and each layer fails in its own way.

  • Victorian terraces in the valley bottom. Many are now flats or shared houses. Old timber doors and lost fire separation are the usual faults. See fire doors for HMOs.
  • 1930s to 1960s estates on the valley sides. Blocks with communal entrance doors and riser cupboards. See communal fire door replacement.
  • Larger period properties. Often offices, surgeries or care use now, with a fire door question on every floor.
  • Recent flat blocks on brownfield sites. Newer, but fire stopping defects are still common after later cabling and fit-out work.
  • Industrial and trade units on the south-west side of town. Alarms and access control matter more than doors there. See our warehouse security guide.

That description of the town comes from published sources, not from a survey of our own. We do not claim to know your building until we have seen it.

Landlords and HMOs

Buckinghamshire Council runs mandatory HMO licensing.

The council's licensing pages say a licence is needed where five or more people forming two or more households share a property as their main home. The scope of mandatory licensing was widened in October 2018 and includes flats and two-storey properties. Running a licensable HMO without a licence is a criminal offence.

The council pages we checked describe mandatory licensing only. We did not find a separate additional or selective scheme, but check with the council before you rely on that. For the fire side, see our HMO landlord fire safety guide.

How we work with you

  1. 1Send photos, a floor plan or an existing report to info@dcsecurity.co.uk, or use the form.
  2. 2We give a fixed price once we have the details, and we usually come back with it the same day.
  3. 3An engineer visits to survey or fit. There is no travel charge to High Wycombe.
  4. 4You receive a photographed report or the installation paperwork, and any third-party certificate where it applies.

A fire risk assessment is a separate service from a fire door inspection. They sit side by side. If you are not sure which you need, start with the fire risk assessment page and the fire door inspection page.
