Who installs CCTV for businesses in Buckinghamshire?

We install IP CCTV for businesses, yards and residential blocks across Buckinghamshire. Our security work is SSAIB certificated. We choose camera positions to meet the aim of the system, set up remote viewing, and cover signage and data protection. Price depends on camera count, cable runs and storage, and we give a fixed price once we have the details.

Start with the aim, not the camera count

A camera that cannot identify a face is just a record that something happened.

Different aims need different cameras. Reading a number plate at a gate is not the same as recognising a person in a doorway, and neither is the same as watching a yard for movement at night. The aim decides the lens, the height and the lighting.

Our guides cover each: where to position cameras, how many cameras you need, resolution and camera types. If you are comparing quotes, how to compare CCTV quotes shows what to line up.

Where CCTV is needed in Buckinghamshire

The county has dense towns, trade estates and a lot of countryside.

Town-centre shops and offices. Shop fronts, back lanes and delivery doors. Cameras need to cover the till, the stockroom door and the approach. See retail security.

Trade and industrial units. Yards, loading bays and roller doors. Night coverage matters most. See warehouse security and CCTV for warehouses.

Residential blocks and landlords' properties. Entrances, bin stores, car parks and lifts. See CCTV for blocks of flats.

Farms and rural buildings. Long boundaries and no mains power at the far end. See CCTV for farms and solar CCTV towers.

Data protection and signage

If your cameras record people outside your own property, the rules apply to you.

CCTV that records identifiable people is personal data. UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 apply to a business system. You need a clear reason for each camera, a retention period, signs, and a way to deal with requests for footage.

Domestic users have a narrower set of rules, covered in our CCTV laws for homeowners page. For business signs, see CCTV signage requirements. We set up your recorder with a sensible storage period and explain how to export footage. See how much storage CCTV needs.

How we install

Survey, design, fit, set up, hand over.

  1. 1Survey. We walk the site, check lighting and cable routes, and note where footage has to be usable.
  2. 2Design and price. Camera positions marked on a plan, with the fixed price.
  3. 3Install. Cables are routed neatly, and any hole through a fire wall is sealed. The recorder goes somewhere secure.
  4. 4Set up. Remote viewing on your phone, users with their own logins, and the retention period you agreed.
  5. 5Handover. A walk-through of exporting footage and a service plan.

See commercial CCTV for the wider service and business CCTV installation cost for what moves the price.

Upgrading an old system

Many sites have working cable and poor cameras.

Where old analogue cabling is sound, an upgrade can reuse it. Often the picture quality jumps without re-cabling. See upgrading analogue CCTV to IP. If a camera has stopped working, see why a CCTV camera is not working.

CCTV works best next to other security. Our county pages for intruder alarms and access control cover the other layers. The national page on CCTV installation covers the service in full, and we have a page for High Wycombe.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need signs for business CCTV?
Yes. People entering the area should be told they are being recorded, who is responsible, and why. See our signage page.
Can I view cameras on my phone?
Yes. We set up remote viewing as part of the install.
How long should footage be kept?
Only as long as you need it for your stated purpose. Many sites keep a few weeks. We set the recorder to your policy.
Can you use my existing cables?
Often. We check them on the survey and tell you what can be reused.
Do you maintain systems you did not fit?
Usually yes, after a check. See CCTV maintenance contracts.
How much does it cost?
It depends on cameras, cable runs, storage and access. We give a fixed price once we have the details.
