Texecom is one of the UK's biggest alarm brands — if your keypad says Premier or Premier Elite, that's what you have. Three things bring people to this page: the Texecom Connect app (it needs a SmartCom communicator fitted to the panel — the app alone can't talk to an older install), a fault message on the keypad (battery and comms faults dominate — the table below decodes the common ones), and an installer who's disappeared with the engineer code. All three are routine work for any competent independent engineer: Texecom systems are deliberately open, which is exactly why they're worth keeping rather than ripping out.
Premier Elite panels (Elite 12, 24, 48, 64 and the compact FlexCom generation) are the modern range — wired, wireless via Ricochet mesh, or hybrid, and app-capable once a SmartCom is fitted. Premier (non-Elite) panels are the older generation: still serviceable, still supported by independents, but app connectivity and some parts push their economics toward eventual replacement. The keypad's boot text or the sticker inside the panel lid identifies the model.
The practical point: every one of these is an open-protocol system. Any competent engineer can service, reprogram and extend them — you are not tied to the original installer, whatever their paperwork implied.

Texecom's app control runs through the SmartCom — a communicator module fitted at the panel that bridges it to your router (Ethernet or Wi-Fi, with 4G variants). No SmartCom, no app: an older Premier Elite that predates the module simply can't do app control until one is fitted, which is a routine engineer visit rather than a new system.
If the app worked and stopped: same suspects as any cloud-connected device — router changed, Wi-Fi credentials changed, or the SmartCom lost registration. User codes let you set, unset and change user codes; the engineer code is what programming, servicing and extending require. When an installer vanishes without handing it over, the options on a Texecom are well-trodden: depending on model and firmware, an engineer can access or default the panel and reprogram it — worst case involves a full default and reprogram of the configuration, which costs an hour or two of engineer time, not a new system.
That's the heart of a takeover: regain engineering control, put in fresh codes that are yours, service the system, re-establish any monitoring on your terms, and hand over documentation this time.
