What does our fire door inspection report look like?

This is a demo of the report you get from a DC Fire & Security fire door inspection. The building and the findings are examples. The layout, the checks and the kind of photos are exactly what every one of our reports contains.

A report you can actually read

A lot of fire door reports are long lists of codes and tick boxes that only another inspector can follow. Ours are written for the person who has to act on them: a managing agent, a school business manager or a landlord.

  • Page one gives the overall result: how many doors passed, how many need work and what to do first
  • Every fault has a priority and a deadline: high priority within 14 days, the rest within 3 months
  • One action register lists every job in order, so you can hand it straight to a contractor or send it to us to price
  • Each door gets its own page with photos, the measured gaps in millimetres and a clear pass or fail on each check
  • Every action says which standard it comes from, so your fire risk assessor and insurer can see why it matters

What it costs

A fire door inspection is £250 + VAT for up to 10 doors, then £25 a door. If any doors fail, we price the repairs door by door from the report, usually the same day. See fire door inspections and fire door repairs.

Already have a report from someone else?

Send it to info@dcsecurity.co.uk with photos of the doors and we will price the repairs from it. You do not need to start again with a new inspection.

Where we inspect

We are based in Luton and inspect fire doors across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and London. Since September 2025 we have inspected more than 700 fire doors.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often do fire doors need checking in your building?
In blocks of flats over 11 metres, communal fire doors must be checked every three months and flat entrance doors every year, under Regulation 10 of the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022. In other buildings, such as schools, offices, care homes and smaller blocks, your fire risk assessment sets the frequency. Six-monthly is common for busy buildings.
How much is a fire door inspection in your building?
£250 plus VAT covers up to 10 doors on one visit, then £25 plus VAT a door. The price is the same across Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. You get a photo report with every door graded and a list of what to fix first.
Can you price repairs from someone else's report?
Yes. Send us the report or FRA action list and photos of the doors, and we price it door by door, usually the same day. We only ask to visit when the photos cannot answer the question.
Can a failed fire door be repaired, or does it need replacing?
Most failed doors can be repaired: seals, closers, hinges, gaps and fire rated hardware. A door needs replacing when the leaf is hollow or badly damaged, has been cut about, or there is no evidence it was ever a fire door. We tell you which is which and why.
