By the DC Fire & Security engineering team — installing and maintaining fire and security systems since 2010. Updated June 2026.
The professional shortlist in 2026: Pyronix Enforcer and Hikvision AX Pro for wireless homes and small business (from £595 fitted), Texecom Premier Elite for wired/hybrid and commercial Grade 2–3, Orisec for spec-driven wired installs. All are EN 50131-graded with strong apps. DIY brands (Ring, SimpliSafe) sit in a different category insurers may not accept.
All four hold EN 50131 grading, support app control and ARC monitoring, and have parts availability you can rely on for a decade — the qualifying bar for this list.
| System | Type | Best for | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pyronix Enforcer | Wireless, Grade 2 | Homes, rentals, small shops | Two-way wireless, HomeControl+ app, battery life 2-4 yrs |
| Hikvision AX Pro | Wireless/hybrid, Grade 2 | Homes + businesses wanting CCTV integration | One app with Hik CCTV, strong range |
| Texecom Premier Elite | Wired/hybrid, Grade 2-3 | Commercial, larger homes, monitored sites | The UK commercial workhorse; expandable to 168 zones |
| Orisec | Wired/wireless, Grade 2-3 | Spec-driven installs, design-conscious | UK-made, premium keypads, excellent app |
Graded systems are tested against the attack and reliability standard (EN 50131) insurers reference: supervised wireless with jamming detection, tamper protection on every device, battery standby requirements, and certificated installation that qualifies for police response URNs. Ring, SimpliSafe and similar are clever consumer products without grading — fine where no insurer condition exists and self-monitoring suffices, but they cannot satisfy a 'Grade 2 professionally installed and maintained' policy clause and never will. Check your policy wording before the hardware decision, not after.
Wireless home systems (Enforcer/AX Pro, 5–8 devices): from £595 fitted, larger homes £700–£1,200. Monitored versions add £150–£400/year. Commercial Grade 2 (Texecom/Orisec, wired or hybrid): £800–£2,500 typical premises. Grade 3 with dual-path signalling for higher-risk stock: £2,500–£5,000+. Every quote we issue names the panel, every device and the grade in writing — see the cost guide for full breakdowns, and our comparison of Grade 2 vs Grade 3 for the insurance logic.
